Profile

My name is Claus Sørensen and I was born on the 1st of June 1969. As one of few in Denmark I have a university degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (see www.cicm.org.uk) and I am entitled to membership of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). I am also an educated reflexologist. In 2016 I graduated a 2,5 year full Chinese Medical Medicine education at ‘Southern College of Chinese Medicine’ by Louis Womack in Lund, Sweden. In 2021 I graduated from Sharon Weizenbaum's Graduate Mentorship Programme (3 years of studying Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine). Now I also function as TA in upcoming programs.

I have in 2006 made a thesis on the overcrowding of Candida sponges based on the Chinese Medical Understanding Model and on how to diagnose overgrowth by means of Pulse and Tongue Diagnosis. Overgrowth of Candida can to some extent block for a successful treatment and therefore it is relevant to pay attention to. In my education I was taught an integrated style of Acupuncture. Basically there are two different approaches to acupuncture: The Traditional Chinese Acupuncture (more symptom related) and Five Elements Acupuncture (more constitution related). Both styles have their strengths and I draw on both. In recent years, I have brought meridian balancing into my acupunctural practice, e.g. from seminaries with Richard Tan. Professor Wang Ju-Yi and Jason D. Robertson have led a unique meridian palpation technique and diagnostic method to the West and theses techniques I have also integrated in my treatments.

To me some of the keywords in a good treatment are Carefulness, Presence, Respect, Courage and Curiosity. My curiosity should only be seen as a sign of a genuine search for how imbalance has appeared. Like in all other disciplines the need for updating knowledge and education is of course present. Therefore I educate myself ongoingly, preferably in England where some of Europe’s largest acupuncture and Chinese medicine skills are available. I am being supervised by some of the best therapists in the West e.g. Sybill Huessen and Sharon Weizenbaum.

In 2010 I completed a NLP Practitioner education in Dansk NLP Institut. In June 2011 I graduated with distinction an education in patented Chinese Herbs (ready mixed recipes) with Charles Buck, England as a teacher.

In April 2011 I had the chance to access a week long seminar in pulse diagnosis in the United States with Dr. Leon Hammer. Thus in April 2012 I became the first fully certified teacher in the overall Shen-Hammer pulse diagnosis system in Scandinavia. This has provided access to a group of the world’s leading in pulse diagnosis and a huge pool of accumulated clinical experience. I had close contact with Dr. Leon Hammer until he passed away July 2023. For further information see www.dragonrises.eu.

For developing and spreading the Shen-Hammer pulse system in Europe, a European group is founded where we gather and exchange experiences, a kind of think tank. With we, I refer to the other certified instructors in Europe as well as other therapists with great clinical experience in the Shen Hammer pulse system.

I have been trained and taught karate myself for many years which has given me valuable experience in terms of prevention and treatment of sports injuries and good posture. I have achieved 4. dan / 4. degree of black belt. Today, I train Qi Gong / Chinese energy exercises to maintain my energy and resilience

In addition to treating at Dragon Rises Denmark, I'm a school leader at Nordisk Akupunkturuddannelse where I also teach, and I teach at several acupuncture schools and national and international congresses, and I am also regularly used as an external examiner. I teach post-training courses in Chinese Pulse Diagnostics (Shen-Hammer Pulse System) and Chinese Tongue Diagnosis. Having these diagnostic tools is essential to me, because they are considered the cornerstones of any Chinese medical diagnosis, as they inform us about past, present and not least where we are going in terms of our health. Providing these skills is a great pleasure and gives me great joy.

I also offer supervision to colleagues, especially in relation to pulse and tongue diagnosis and possible reasons why a course of treatment does not progress as desired. Students of acupuncture are welcome to make an appointment if interested in observation hours in the clinic.
